Sacred Music

sacredmusicMusic at St. Raphael's is dedicated to preserving the musical tradition of the Catholic Church and ennobling the liturgy of the Mass through the singing of sacred music which possess "holiness, beauty of form, and universality."

Adult Schola:
All teenagers and adults are welcome to join adult schola, a group of dedicated singers assisting the liturgy of the Mass through their voices. Whether you have little or no musical experience, do not hesitate to join: we will be learning musicianship and improving during rehearsals! The choir alternates singing at the 10am Mass on Sundays and practices are held on Wednesdays in the church from 7:30pm-9pm. Repertoire includes chant, polyphony, hymns, and various other choral pieces.

Children's Choir:
Any child from the age of 7 to 12 is welcome to join children's choir. This youth chorus rehearses on Wednesdays from 5pm-6pm in the church and alternates singing at the 10am Mass on Sundays. Musical training and skills such as sight-singing and music theory will be taught as well as singing chant (in unison) and hymns and other choral pieces (in parts). The purpose of this choir is to instill in its young members a love of sacred music and joy in singing for the liturgy of the Mass.
